DEFECTIVE MODELS
Like all technology, nothing is perfect, especially not the Companions. Some models are just produced defective, but once someone has a Companion, they can't simply return them, so in short, if a model is defective, they're stuck with them.
Defective models are unusually common.
While it seems unfair, defective models aren't bad enough to be scrapped in mostly every case, and usually the Master will get used to it as there's already a bond that both parties don't want to break. If the defective model is that intrusive, with proof, the Companion can be given back to be scrapped for parts or used for someone else.
Defective possibilities (from most common to uncommon):
-Glitching (speaking in a static voice, common blackouts, flickering screens, etc)
-Lack of emotion/physical sensation
-Extremely aggressive personalities, from overly sad to severely volatile and everything in between
-Behavior that is considered a Psychological disorder
-Any damage to the exterior (broken limbs, exposed components)
-Broken/unresponsive screens
-Lack of loyalty/obedience to their Master or the Three Laws
-Being blind, deaf or mute
-Constant memory loss
-Data corruption
The list is pretty much endless, and newer conditions are being found every day. There can be combinations or just a single one.
